You walk up to the front door pleased at what you've seen. Several empty parking spots was a good sign, perhaps today the restaurant isn't too busy. Entering the restaurant, your initial thoughts are confirmed true. A handful of empty tables, and even a few empty booths. The hostess is at the front desk, slightly happier than you would expect but otherwise everything seems normal. You stride confidently to the front desk and maintain eye contact with the hostess. You're handling this very well.
>"Good afternoon sir, do you have a reservation?"
Being a Tuesday night, you didn't really find it necessary to make a reservation. And you didn't exactly plan this out either, more of a whim for good food and nice service.
>"No I do not"
Your reply was calm with a polite tone.
>"No problem, how many in your party?"
She kept up her level of enthusiasm while still maintaining an air of professionalism.
>"Just one."
Your reply was short but still confident and collected. You notice her smile dampened for a moment. It would have been imperceptible to most, but you managed to catch it. You've always been one to study body language closely.
>"Just one? I'll see you to the bar, please follow me."
