I was vegan for seven years and I was feeling dizzy all the time and vomiting a couple of times a week. My liver was unable to improve beyond 30% capacity. Half of my teeth had fallen out, and the ones that remained were a faint greenish color and had a chalky texture. I was so anemic I couldn't touch iron without leaving little impressions where my skin had desperately tried to suck it into my body. I was so frail I couldn't even open my front door any more. Eventually the doctor told me I would have to start eating meat or I would not only die, but die so thoroughly that my soul would be erased. So I did.

Trust me, being vegan a long time is a massive triumph.

I'd argue that since animal agriculture is such a large part of human effect on climate change, we ought to advocate for people to eat less meat across the board. We could perhaps reduce it to 5-10% of what it is now, and have that meat come from better sources. Industrial or not it really is a waste of resources, and in a society where so much meat is eaten, I feel where the meat comes from is a minor issue compared to the fact that we eat way too much of it.

It's not that simple, anon. China is dependent on exports for their economy to grow, and we're dependent on their cheap labour in order to get cheap stuff. There's a lot of suffering involved, but in the end both parties are better off as living standards keep rising and cheaper products are made available. But we're not dependent on eating meat in the same way. If we slaughter say 50% less animals, they wouldn't mind, and we would be better off for it, but if China's exports fell by 50% that would be catastrophic for them, and would ultimately cause a lot more suffering. It's not an either or situation anyway, so it's hardly relevant.

You don't have any understanding of how markets and retail work. Places like Walmart buy goods from the manufacturer/distributor in bulk which they then price and sell to the public. A 1.2% fluctuation (at best) in sales isn't going to stop them from buying bulk produce. The only way your life could have any real meaning and impact would have been if you got in to bioscience at an early age and spent your life trying to create a cheaper more efficient lab grown meat, but you've only been in this for the folk identity from the start.
