Is this actually how normies make tea? What the actual fuck. I expected some loose leaf sencha or at least a quality brand...

It's how Americans make tea. Kettles, water boilers, rice cookers, etc. are for faggots but coffee machines, garlic presses, and deep fryers are okay.

In the south leave covered pitcher of water with family size tea bag out back for coupla hours. Leave out to taste, refrigerate

My family gets loose leaf tea and I've continued to do it. I use a needlessly complex container for steeping, but don't have a kettle so I use the microwave.

Are the tea purist death squad going to knock on my door?

A kettle is like $10. Why is microwaving water considered acceptable? All the collective smells of the microwave get into the water too

>A kettle is like $10.
Maybe in England you can get a good one for little, but that sounds impossible to get a good one in the states. Pretty sure most stores wouldn't even have them.

>All the collective smells of the microwave get into the water too
Okay, this requires me to ask a million fucking questions.

1. How dirty is your fucking microwave?
2. Microwaves don't add flavor to what you heat in them.

Furthermore, how long does it take to heat water in a kettle? Microwave is from my knowledge the fastest way to heat water. 2 minutes and you've got some hot water. Hell, 1:30 is still enough.

The only reason I could see a kettle being useful is if it was an electric kettle which can accurately put it at optimal temp for tea brewing. And those kinds of kettles aren't going for $10.
