Looking for a new job, recently fell in love with cooking.

I've been in retail for the past two years, before that I worked at Papa John's for about a year, and followed that with Pizza Hut. Hated the rush hours, but I loved my coworkers and the energy of the "kitchen."

An opening for a line/prep cook has opened at my local Applebee's, and I know it's a shit-tier restaurant and nothing like what any real cook would strive for, but I wanted to know if any of you have experience with this position. Part time, the place is always busy. I'm 22 with work experience, know I could land the job if I wanted.

Do you think I should take this opportunity to see if I enjoy kitchen cooking? Is this job even anything like what I'm looking for out of a kitchen experience, or am I wasting my time moving from a cushy stress-free job to a high energy environment like a kitchen? Should I give it a shot at another non-chain restaurant instead?

What do, /ck/? My main focus is art, but I like cooking and think it might be a more rewarding part time job than hanging clothes and cashing old women out at the register.

>Not a stoner looking for a stoner job, I don't mind working hard, I just want to learn more hands-on cooking and this is the nearest position that might be a good entry position.
