Why is the 'plain cake' original not represented here? Not everyone wants syrups and glazes and fillings of fruit. None are superior for dipping in coffee, because coatings disrupt absorption and fillings fall in. Doesn't anyone appreciate a regular fucking doughnut anymore? They're bad enough as it is being deep fried sweet dough. Perhaps chocolate and creme anglaise are not necessary automatically.

I get that, but how the fuck are TONGS a flavor-of-the-month kitchen item? Also, I don't give a shit about the cultural context here on 4chan. It rarely makes sense. Sriracha, I guess I can understand getting called 'meme' here, but when it comes to kitchen staples and common foods, the word is fallaciously misapplied.

You and I could not think more differently about this. I work in fine dining, and the cuisine is on a level you'd not understand. Food prepared so excellently deserves to look beautiful as well; this is what we do once the food's flavor cannot be improved upon.
People do not eat this food because it is expensive, they eat it despite that fact. Half of the servers I work with are foodies who work there partly because they get a discount on the food.

I'm almost 35 and have been very fortunate. I have good instincts and judgment about picking places to eat.
When I was the local food critic for a couple of years I ate out a lot, but I just wrote about how bad the food was and eat less of it rather than send it back. It wasn't my money, and there were usually other dishes to eat from that had no problems whatsoever.
But I never really ever received anything so terrible I'd have sent it back anyway. Nothing has ever been underdone or inedible. There are just poor preparations and even poor recipes sometimes.
