we don't use anchovies as much desu
I see more american use them in tomato sauce to "spice it a little bit" than actual italian
The only recipes I could think of that require oil stored anchovies are
> puttanesca
> (white) pizza butter and anchovies (or bread)
> pizza with anchovies (tomatoes and anchovies)
> bagnacauda
> orecchiette with turnip green

Most of the time anchovies in recipe means fresh anchovies, which are not "msg-y"
There's also colatura di alici (modern garum) that technically count, but it's very rare outside Campania
