I have no problem with a food youtuber using someone else's recipe. In my opinion food youtube is more about showing you how to make a recipe than anything else so I think cooking skill and video production quality are more important than someone being able to create their own recipes every time. I'm definitely not a fan of his "Being with Babish" videos. They definitely give off that insufferable personality vibe. What I really like are his basics videos. I've used some of those recipes to varying success. I also appreciate that he goes super in depth into some of his binging recipes because I think this familiarizes you with cooking concepts you might not otherwise look into.
His vlog videos are self important to the point of being cringey, his binging videos are okay sometimes, and honestly I really appreciate his basics videos. I think that I would personally appreciate if he moved away from the pop culture foods and more towards just foods for home chefs but I understand the pop culture stuff is what's bringing him the views. I don't enjoy every episode of his but I definitely watch every now and then.
