Lemonade berries (Rhus integrifolia, pic related) are a common trailside occurrence in SoCal. They're ripe in spring and summer, and are tangy and quite sticky.

Strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo) is an import but is sometimes found in suburbia. Ripe when red, but kinda shit.

There's also apparently a wild relative of quinoa out there, though good luck harvesting it.
