Taketsuru was hired to direct building the first Suntory distillery Yamzaki, and then he ran it for 10 years. After that we went and started his own whisky company so Suntory doesn't talk about him.

Like you said, all blending is done inside the company. There's no selling of whisky between companies. The scotch distilleries they own are still allowed to sell to blenders I think, since bowmore and laphroaig still show up in blends.
