Am I the only one who finds things verging on the surreal when you out yourself as a smoker in 2020? Even just saying the word, “smoker” conjures images of a one-eyed Dennis Hopper in Waterworld, and in spite of a solid three-decade career, he was clearly a bad caricature of a post-apocalyptic bad guy in that film. I went to the 1995 Hawaiian Vaudeville Festival and paddled around Kevin Costner’s trimaran on an ocean kayak while surrounded by breaching humpback whales while the sun was setting, and then went head to head with Charlie Brown in a Mr. String challenge in the pavilion at night. In any case, I wouldn’t have left the house today if I hadn’t run out of smokes, so I picked up another handle and some Taco Bell - for good measure.
