I tried making the Canadian dish poutine as my dinner for this night. I never had poutine before, so I thought I would give it a shot.
Unfortunately, cheese curds were'nt available, so I used cottage cheese. I didn't have a sieve, so I sucked the whey out through my teeth (I was the only one eating it anyway).
For the gravy, I started by cooking some pieces of shredded leek in leftover bacon grease (I decided not to wash the pan yesterday so I could use it). Then I added chicken stock and corn starch, and heat it up and stirred until it was done.
It was ok. The problems are that the cottage cheese curds were too small, and the gravy was too salty. But aside from that, I enjoyed it.
