It's not about taste, though. It's about wasting the food. And they wasted a lot of that egg.
Could have just buried the whole egg in the hot sand where the fire was and waited.
Or at least pack some big leaves around it or something.
I'm no no Bear Grylls but I could come up with ten better ways of cooking an ostrich egg in the field than pouring it on the damn ground.

Hilarious how nervous and careful he is opening it too. Wouldn't want to accidentally spill some or get any sand in it!
