You're making the mistake 99% of people here do. You're caring way too fucking much about it. It's a hunk of metal. People have been using it for thousands of years to cook. Do you think witches and peasants used gay cold pressed babby oil to season their cauldrons and avoided using tomatoes in their potions? Of course not. If you want a good seasoning, just cook on it using extra fats for the first month or so. The only way you can truly fuck up cast iron or carbon steel is by throwing it into a volcano. Just cook. Maybe use it just to cook bacon for that first month. I don't know. The worst thing you can do is obsess over it like the mods of a cast iron subreddit.
