My neighbor's dad came home from the Korean War and after a week, his mom bitched at him to go get a job, so he strolled down to GM’s Hydramatic plant, got hired on the spot and started work in a union job that day and within a year, had a wife, house and a new car and 30 years later, retired with a full-pension and benefits after sending three kids thru college.

Yeah, the 50s really sucked, man….
