I've never eaten an avocado in my life outside of guac a few times when I was a kid. Yesterday I bought a bag of 6 of them. I tried to eat one raw and alone a few minutes ago and it was repulsive. Slimy, with an absolutely sickening flavor. The seed inside was far darker than the one in the picture though, and it was kind of goopy while the picture looks hard..before I decide to never buy these again, was it like too ripe or something?

Also, since I have 5 left, what do I do with these things? I would love recipes that will change my mind about them.

i've got two decently sized avocados that i need to use before they start to get too ripe.

i don't want to make guacamole. i'm thinking about incorporating it into a sandwich or some shit, maybe a chicken sandwich.

any ideas?

Can somebody please explain to me why there's such a huge obsession with avocado lately? (Last ~2 years)

I see it everywhere I go and people use it in so many recipes, it's ridiculous.
Is avocado the "in" thing today?

I think we can all agree that these things are ambrosia, right?

I bought some avocados about a week ago. They were really hard and not ripe at all so I kept them in their plastic bag on the counter. I wanted to use them tonight so I went to check them and found that they're all really soft but also splotched with some sort of hard, gritty, white substance, might be mold.

Are they still safe to eat or should I throw them away? I've never had avocados go from unripe to rotten in a week, this is weird.

I love sandwiches but I'm lazy.
Lettuce/tomato etc is to much of a pain in the ass to bother with but delicious none the less.
So I am relegated to just deli meat / cheese sandwiches.

I have recently taken to spreading guacamole on my sandwich.
Is it wrong to view it as spreadable toppings?

It's quite delicious
