>be me in pseudo culinary school for highschoolers
>doing it to make my dad proud
>have a really cool chef

>get stuck with the meanest chef ive ever met
>brings us down constantly
>constantly bitter
>get asked to join a competition team at the junior level
>still want to make dad proud
>the team I am on placed 7th out of an 8 person competition
>im here to replace the kid who did starter
>local competition comes up, qualify for state
>chef doesnt focus on us she focuses on the other junior team
>she thinks we will lose
>we don't get first
>we did beat the other junior team and got 2nd place
>seniors got first
>year passes
>im stuck with the same chef again
>competition starts and I am not invited
>depressed im not good enough
>ask to at least be a mentor and make sure no mistakes happen
>accepted
>next semester starts and our team member working on starches left
>come to practice just to find out I am taking over
>freak out
>i have no clue how to do this
>fail the first 6 or so times making polenta fries
>local is a day away
>succeed finally at making it in local
>we qualified
>getting ready for state im still not great
>team members hate me
>all the other kids bully me
>im getting so depressed i want to die
>i perfect my skills for state
>we get first, we're going to nationals, we also got gold since we scored 95% and above on the dish
>go to training camp for nationals, they completely change my fries
>freak out
>fail again
>perfect myself
>nationals comes im terrified, but determined to get top half of nation
>chef is nice to me, buys me food talks to me

>god damnit I will do my best
>after we make our meal judges critique
>they tell me I did a perfect job on the starch

>the teammate who did the entree brought our whole team down 10 spots out of 48
>depressed we didnt get first
