Yeah. At least to our American tongues. Scotch Highlanders are a hardy breed. They are from in the "high"lands of Scotland where vegetation is sparse and tough and not as nutritious. We got into them because they looked nice, were hardy and stayed outside without shelter all winter and because they ate certain plants and weeds and all the "bad" stuff in the fields to keep them cleaner than other breeds. Again, they are built to make do in the lean climate.

They are perfectly fine for eating but compared to other breeds like the now popular Angus, Wagyu and lesser Herefords they aren't as highly rated. I ate alot of scotch highland beef when I was in Scotland and it was actually pretty good. They must know how to use it. Lol. Pic I drew as a child. Won first place at the fair.
