By "tastes like scotch", I imagine you mean pretty bog-standard blended scotch, because the taste spectrum of scotch is one of the widest of any liquor out there. There's a huge amount of variation. If you're dead set on getting a handle of scotch (I don't know of any good single malt that comes in bottles larger than 750ml, other than the absurd 4.5L bottles that Ardbeg does sometimes) get a handle of Dewars white label. It's smooth and easy drinking.
