Do IPA's give you more of the buzzed feeling of beer than other types even if alcohol percentage is the same? Compared to a lager i have a stronger buzz and that bitter taste

Well, I was planning on posting today, but I've had a couple of friends from out of town drop by unexpectedly (holiday weekend!), and they are having to sit here and stare at me (while drinking my beer) whilst I finish the prep work I already started. Creative chefs of /ck/, recent gasto-intestinal explosions have forced me to remove all dairy products from my diet. After realising just how much shit has milk in it, I feel a little overwhelmed. Canst thou recommend me meals that are reasonably cheap, healthy and dairy free? Snacks too - besides fruit it feels like there's practically nothing.
