Alfredo sauce is hot, tomato sauce is not. People will typically put red pepper or parmesan cheese on tomato sauce pasta, need I say more? They want to disguise the flavor because they know it's not spectacular. Basically, history will show that tomato sauce pasta was a basic bitch propped up on a pedestal when alfredo was truly the best option.
