Same problem arises with cakes. Cakes are soft and spongy, almost melt in your mouth when done well. Dates and raisins are much firmer in comparison, and dont mesh well with the texture of the cake. This is why fruitcakes are low-tier.

Schlenkerla is excellent, it's a common enough import that you can find it in local bottle shops and even big chains like total wine here in the states. I'd love to be able to try it fresh from the tap though.
