Burr edges are sharp when new, and they dull over time like anything else that's sharp. Eventually your grind consistency goes to absolute shit, you get clumps when you do espresso grinds, etc. How long they last depends on the burrs in question, but it's usually 500-1000lb of coffee, with exceptions like the EK43 burrs that go for 10k

if you get one, any setting lower than 5 and it starts getting prone to jams, especially if you use darker roasts. they have weak motors. with the SSP burrs they're breddy gud for light roasts
