We absolutely have bad food. It all arises from our post war years where safety and quantity were king over taste. People learned to cook the shit out of their meat and vegetables because of this culture and the availability of canned goods

There IS good food around but much of what your average person is exposed to is a damn sight short of what you can get in Spain, France, or Italy
