You need to use a potato ricer, peel after boiling not before, and add more butter and heavy cream than you think you need. Use fresh garlic and garlic powder, a very small amount of onion powder, white pepper, and a pinch of msg. Guarantee you they'll be way better than what you get in a restaurant.
