pots are comfier and i feel that you get more out of the clay with a yixing pot than a gaiwan because the tea is in more contact with the clay

>color
the color depends on which clay it is, it can get pretty autistic but the most impact the clay has is its porosity which can mute or change the taste of teas, more porous clay = more muting, from least to most porous: zhuni < zini < duanni ~ luni.
muting can be good for removing astringency or bitterness from teas such as shu puer, while teas needing less muting goes better with zhuni like for example green oolongs, if you buy one try all types of tea in it though. some people will dedicate one type of tea for one pot but you dont need to do that, just know that if you brew a lot of strong smelling teas like wet aged puer and shu then it can kind of get into the smell of the pot and it might not be the best to use with lighter teas like green oolongs then.
there is also teapots which have gone through a reduction process which turns it black, i dont believe this has any affect on the clay, so the muting is still dependent on the clay
nixing clay is cheaper and mutes similarly to zini, theres less fake nixing pots so it can be a good first pot if you dont want to break the bank and plan on using it for shu
nixing pots go for 60-75 usd while yixing are at a minimum 100 usd for half handmade and 250usd for handmade
choose clay quality over anything else

autism pic
dont think shape has any massive difference, but having the right lid size is important so you can actually fit the leaves in it
100-125ml is good for solo sessions

>right now just inside plastic bags in cardboard boxes
you may want to try some zip lock mylar bags as you collection grows. they seal much better than regular zip locks. I use bags from here:
https://www.usaemergencysupply.com/emergency-supplies/food-storage-equipment/mylar-bags-for-food-storage
they are mostly good bags but you need to be a bit gentle on the ziplock potion of them and you may need to air out the inside to get rid of the "new plastic" smell that gets trapped in them after manufacture. i like that this vendor lets you order in very small quantities.

>I really love the look of the xishi style.
its one of my favorites as well. i intend to get one in that style someday.

that teapot looks good to me. it is made by the same studio that makes much of mud and leaves stuff that everyone seems to like. you may want to wait for someone else who has more experience with yixing to chime in before ordering though (i don't own any yet myself).
