>if me or my brother wanted something to eat we would have to microwave a plate of whatever she made this week and eat that

>the food she made was usually pretty sub-par even when it was fresh, and only got worse as it stayed in the fridge
>never bought any microwaveable or easily made food, unless we specifically ask for it, even then she didn't get much, so it was either what she made or leftover ingredients

Did anyone else's mother do this? My mom is from Mexico so maybe this is just what they do over there.

When she cooks Mexican, it's usually pretty hit-or-miss: either not-so-great or absolutely amazing.
