Personally I love La Hacienda in Monticello if only for the staff and margaritas. We went yesterday and I got one the size of a fishbowl.
Service there is always great even if they're packed. Food is mediocre tex mex but I really can't complain since it's better than a lot of places around here.
Have you been up to the barn restaurant up near Anamosa? I haven't heard good things from there, but it just might be baseless rumors.
