>Beans in chilli?

Yes, or it's not "chili".

Chili is a spicy Mesoamerican BEAN stew that _can also_ contain meat but usually didn't for pre-Colombian Indian peasants.

>Original chili was a dish made to deal with the fact that an entire cow died.

Original chili didn't use beef, as there were no cows in the Western Hemisphere when it was invented by Mesoamericans.

Chili is a bean and chili pepper stew that can use meat but doesn't have to.

>Obviously, it has no beans.

Then it's obviously not chili and is just a spicy meat stew.

Chili is an ancient Mesoamerican dish that as its foundation, uses beans and chili peppers.

Other ingredients may be added to this but if it ain't got no beans, it ain't no chili.

>Is chili still technically chili if it has beans in it?

Chili _without_ beans technically isn't chili, it's just spicy meat stew.

Chili is a bean stew that was developed by Mesoamericans, which may or may not have had meat in it depending on availability and that meat would have been whatever was around, venison, rabbit, turkey, etc.

>Should beans be put in chili?

Yes, as the dish's original origins in Mexico was a bean stew that only had meat added to it if available.

Chili without beans simply isn't chili.
