>You can still taste the minerals in it. I'm not sure if distilled water has any kind of taste to it though since it doesn't have anything else like that. Plain water seems really tasty and refreshing when you're actually thirsty though. Also I've noticed that carbonated stuff seems more bitter and even something like plain seltzer makes me feel a bit nauseous from the bitterness if I drink too much. That's probably partially why soda can contain so much more sugar but if you add the same amount to flat water it seems disgustingly sweet.
