There are people on this planet that choose to no eat REAL bread. They do this even without medical reasons. How could they?

What is it with crust and slightly harder parts that makes them taste so good? Bread loaves for example, or pizza, or carrotbox.

most traditional food, especially up here in northern europe, is old survival food made to last long times during winter when there was no harvests. putting berries into jars after mashing em, storing apples in a cellar cuz they last the year if left alone. salt meat.
as for bread you could use sourdough, and with that you could make näkkileipä/knäckebröd, which is like raspy and coarse crackers, you toss em on a rack close to the roof to store em for the winter. pic related

Why is scandinavian food so hard chewed and salty? It's fucking shit i tell you what. It's all salt, rye, fish and karelia crockpots. Why the fuck do you chew peasant food like rye instead of buying proper white bread?
I much prefer the food here in Texas. No wonder America is the cultural center of the world, makes me wonder why scandinavia is called the best place to live...
