As an Aussie that's spent most of his life in the northern hemisphere, it goes both ways.
Even though we all grew up down in Aus seeing Xmas movies and Xmas cartoons with snow and carols and turkey dinners, it's really weird but kind of cool to actually experience it.

I definitely recommend to anyone to try and experience 1 (one) xmas in the opposite season just once.
We're pretty chill blokes down here in Aus, if you were a Yank backpacker down here and I heard you wanted to celebrate an Aussie xmas I'd gladly invite you over for a few beers and some sausages bro.

Xmas is less about tradition and religious bullshit down here and more about getting drunk with family and friends.
