Hey /ck/, I’ve been starting to cook steaks lately, but they always smoke up the kitchen which pisses off my roommate. I always sear the steak on high heat, as recommended. Is there any way to cook it decently on low or medium heat?

You know, you have to appreciate something about meat.
According to Mr. Science Guy we've been around for between 150-200k years.
We've still not found a better way to cook meat than to throw some shit we found lying about on the ground(salt, pepper, herbs) on it and throwing it on a fire for a bit.

Say what you want, but I genuinely think that's a small, but beautiful thing.

I was just given some frozen steak and chicken, and I have no idea what to do with any of this.
For the chicken, do you just put it on a pan and into the oven to bake? What temp? How long?
The steak is huge, there's no frying pan in the world large enough for it. I assume you put it in a frying pan, but I dunno, this thing looks like it would only fit inside the oven.
What do I do with this shit to make it safe for consumption? How do I cook it? Temperatures, times?
