You're points are exactly correct. I used a mason jar and lid as a ghetto gaiwan for a short while -works fine albeit a bit drippy and hot. They can be had for extremely cheap, I recommend just pulling the trigger. 10 bucks or less on Yunnan Sourcing.

Just got my new gaiwan from lazycat tea in today. Testing it out with their qilan rock oolong sample they provided. Its quite good. Excellent floral flavor and fragrance but rounded and sweet from the roast.

according to their website, qilan means strange orchid. makes sense, its similar to a honey orchid oolong but much less sweet.
