The Answer is quite simple. They got a lot of bad press because they did almost all of their marketing to kids. Tv shows, BK kids clubs, video games, mascots, and the stores were designed to make kids beg their parents to bring them to a fast food joint. After supersize me they started changing the restaurant look and stopped using the cartoon characters
