Essentially, supertasters are people who simply have more chemical receptors for particles that signal taste than non-supertasters. It's a genetic trait that evolved in certain haplogroups. Surprise surprise, it's usually white people. My college neuroscience class gave us little taste strips to test our status and it was pretty much exclusively white people that could taste anything. My professor even mentioned that it's a generally white trait after the fact.

The same people who claim that white cuisine is "bland and flavorless" and the same people who meme hot sauce. Flavorless to them, maybe. They act so god damn proud of their high spice tolerance when in reality their inferior tongues *require* 9 pounds of capsacin to sense anything. They will never know the subtleties of chervil or bay leaf or saffron. Pathetic.
