>be in middle school
>kid who I know but not friends with invites me and my buddy to a camping trip over the weekend
>want to be his friend and sounds like fun, so we say ok
>kid tells us that everyone has to bring something, and his dad wants us to bring hot dogs and buns
>no problem, have my mom get the hot dogs and buddies mom gets buns
>camping trip is going great, all the kids having fun while the adults relaxing and drinking beer
>dinner time
>the kids dad pulls out of the cooler only the hot dogs and buns we bought, zero condiments, sides, fruits, veggies, smores, not even cheap generic brand soda
>WTF
>everyone proceeds to act like this is completely normal and eats our food

Anyone else have this happen to them? I'm still struggling all these years later to understand if this was normal food behavior or not.
