this looks a lot worse then it actually is, it's just basic chemistry to remove alkaloids from plant matter.
You commonly eat things that go through this same process
>cement powder
It's lye
>sulfuric acid
a good acid to counter the alkalinity of the lye
>gas
well they could use a better solvent but it doesn't really matter because it will all be removed
>battery acid
thats just more sulfuric acid used to strip the solvent
>bicarbonate of soda
its baking soda to reduce the acidity

this process is used in dozens of products it your house
