It's sweeter than Indian curry. You can't compare the two. Indian curry is actually good, wholesome food. Japanese curry is more of a fast food or even a junk food. It tastes good with a Coke or some kind of sweet dessert that you eat afterwards. It probably works best as something you prepare yourself, as a way to dispose of leftovers. Pretty easy to make.

Also, interestingly after making it myself several dozen times, when looking back at photos from Japan, I notice that all the curry I had in Japan, specifically at curry restaurants, like CoCo Curry, had significantly more "sauce" and less meat and vegetables than Westerners would be inclined to add. A lot of times, there were no vegetables.
