It's not the same but they are related and equally harmless.
A lot of retards out there seem to think GMO means there are dangerous chemicals in the food or that it's somehow bad for them. That's obviously not the case, although some plants are specifically modified to work better with some chemicals during growing. (i.e. modified to be resistant to weed killers)
Selective breeding alone can do a lot anyway. The many derivatives of brassica is a great example of that.
And the Belgian Blue of course, which I'm told actually produces really flavourless meat.
