what gets me is that if a horse gets injured like that, it pretty much has to walk on it, or at least try to. Imagine trying to trot around on a bloody stump of nerves, getting dirt and shit all up in those unprotected fibers. With how disgusting horses are and how they are constantly surrounded by shit, it'd get infected in like a week, so you'd be hobbling around with an infected bloody abscess on your leg with a missing foot
