In the roasting process gas does get locked into the pores of the bean, as does during grinding (friction, heat). When you brew you should allow 25 seconds or so for you coffee grounds to degas in about 25-50 grams of water depending on how much coffee there is.

I don't really do aeropress anymore, I've gotten too good at pour overs.

Just got an Aeropress and it always comes out really fucking bitter. I have tried steeping it for 10 seconds to a minute, using expresso grounds or drip grounds, using boiling water or water below boiling, inverted and normal methods.

What am I doing wrong?

Does anybody know if these Aeropress coffee makers are any good? Thinking of giving them a try, they're pretty cheap on amazon atm (£20)

I've got a Hario V60 but that thing is kind of a pain in the ass, and I always manage to fuck up the french press.

I have an Aeropress, soft water, thermometer, scale and cheapish chainstore bought coffee. (Segafredo, pre-ground :( )
Will i be able to brew at least Starbucks-tier coffee this way? Is it really the time to get full beans and a coffee grinder? Is it time to expand my autism to different speciality beans?

get an Aeropress, much quicker and cleaner than a french press. Plus you can use espresso grind if you prefer as it has a paper filter instead of a coarse wire mesh.

Sup cu/ck/s

Tell me why I should get an aeropress.

I typically use a french press or a moka pot, but enough hipster have told me that an aeropress is a must-have so I'm wondering why.

What kind of grind do you need for it? And how do you use it?
