For my birthday in October of last year.

There is a local pizza chain (not a major chain, but a couple dozen locations in the area and some satellites) that started in my home town, with the original location still operating out of a converted turn-of-the-century bicycle factory. It's a very interesting building, very good pizza, and important to me on a personal level as a favorite place for my family to hold large dinners. So I got a group of my friends who live in the city to all take a field trip to taste a slice of my hometown. It was great.

Tavern Style > New York Style and Chicago Deep Dish

Tavern style > New York style pizza

Tavern style is the best style of pizza

Deep Dish is essentially a casserole
New York is like frozen pizza put into a pizza oven
Detroit style is a shittier version of chicago style
Florida style is for bottom feeders.
Neapolitan is essentially an heirloom pizza, a different type of dish completely and is more gourmet.

cracker-crust is based and STL-style was a curious novelty when I had it but raising your children to believe that's what pizza is should be considered child abuse.

Never had them but there one near me so might have to give it a whirl. In the past I have had connie's, giordano's, aurelio's, palermo's, gino's east that i can think of off hand - and many more if you expand to the greater chicago area.

The city I live in is only in some sense "mine", and has offered the world plenty.

But my home-sweet-hometown has given this particular pizza to The-Greater-Chicagoland-Area with satellite locations in Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, and apparently "Naples, FL".

Anyways it's my favorite.
