People from flyover country get really freaked out at any hint of foreigner/accent/ethnicity

When I used to work as a cashier, I had a coworker from Latvia who had a slight accent and we'd get angry customers saying they want to talk to someone who speaks UHMERICAN

I have a current coworker with no accent whatsoever but he has a chinese name and we had a customer from texas flip his shit and ask to speak with someone else because they "couldn't understand his english"

And it goes both ways, I have a coworker who lived most of his life in flyover, who can't handle talking to anyone overseas on the phone because he panics when he hears an accent and tries to get them to send emails which doesn't really work for some situations
