I used to drive down from San Francisco to Los Angeles a couple times a year when I went to school up there and there would be a bunch of stops on the I-5 with one stop in particular having just a shit ton of places like OP's picture and I loved stopping there.

Something about being in the middle of the road, just eating by yourself, enjoying all the cars passing by, with a couple hours left to drive and with no obligations. It was comfy.
