Syracuse-fag here; NYC is a piece of shit and so is everyone and everything in it. Smells like shit, and you pass a million people every hour that wouldn't give a fuck if you were bleeding to death in front of them.
In my area things are cheaper, you don't have to wade through 3 hours of traffic just to go 20 miles and people around here actually care.
