It sounds like a weird combination but the black cherry and coffee is amazing

Did they make a breakthrough in artificial flavorings in the last couple of years? Because I've been trying all kinds of sparkling water since I quit sugar, and they all taste actively sweet. Pic related, for instance, tastes EXACTLY like a cherry tootsie pop. Not in a watered down "tastes like someone whispered cherry tootsie pop in your ear before you fell asleep" kind of way, but exactly like one, just as sweet.
I can't figure out if it's just that my taste buds have adjusted to a lack of sweetness and now they perceive this stuff as sweet, or if sparkling water companies are sneaking in an artifical sweeter under "natural and artifical flavors" that the fda hasn't caught up to yet.
