I'm not from there but my mom is so she would make this a lot. Hers is way better than what I experienced at Skyline and mostly that's because the noodles were overcooked mush although I gather that's how you're supposed to do it

while it is true that Coney Island, NYC is the birthplace of the American hotdog, a "Coney dog" is a Detroit invention made by Greek immigrants who passed through Ellis Island and probably discovered hotdogs for the first time in Coney Island. They named their version of the hotdog (covered with a sweeter version of chili people from Ohio will also recognize) after Coney Island to make it seem more American as many new immigrants did to try and assimilate into their new communities better. So by convention a Coney dog or just a Coney is a dish created and spread by greek immigrants in Detroit who used the name as a marketing gimmick and a Coney Island hotdog is the original iteration of the American hotdog available in NYC. So it seems to me that if you're in the midwest it's generally understood that a coney is some sort of chili dog but in the east it probably makes you think of Nathan's or something but honestly I've never heard anyone pine away for a coney island hotdog specifically. Dirty water hotdogs maybe

ITT: things that trigger you

Pic related, food served in tiny plate and if you try to do anything with it you're 100% guaranteed to spill thing over

It would annoy me so much I bought autistically large restaurant plates

Never get chili from a place that sells hamburgers. It's where they dump all the ground beef that has gone off

This is where you want to go for chili

Cincinnati chili has a heavy eastern mediterranean influence due to the greek immigrants. As such their chili more closely resembles the filling for moussaka, having sweeter spices like nutmeg, cocoa, and allspice added. I make it at home because all those places overcook the noodles like it's the 50s

Moving on to the rest of the midwest, this is a Cincinnati chili 3-way. Overcooked spaghetti, a sweet Greek chili with allspice and chocolate and cinnamon, covered in a mound of shredded "cheddar" "cheese." It is good but make it at home. I like mine with diced onions (a 43way) and hotsauce. Other common toppings are beans and oyster crackers but they do not please me
