For me it's slow cooked sticky teriyaki pork ribs. This works trust me

>Cut the ribs into singles
>Toss in bowl and add:
>Dark soy (lots), honey (bit less), minced garlic and ginger (generous but don't over do, more ginger than garlic), sake or some sweet rice wine (about a cup, the marinade cannot be too thick). Bit of salt and optionally some brown sugar
>All of this almost covering the ribs. Make sure it's enough, let them almost swim in it
>Leave it over night

>the next day, heat up a pan, add olive oil (generous)
>Place the ribs one by one in the pan leaving most of the marinade behind
>Fry on high heat till dark brown. Seriously get some fucking colour on there, like a nigger
>When fried, turn the heat way way low and start adding the marinade bit by bit. always stirring and flipping them for about 60-90 minutes. Make sure it simmering gently
>Alternatively toss all the marinade in and place in an oven at medium heat for a bit longer. 2 hours or so NO COVER ON IT.

Brazilian rice: (yeah, I know but it works) thick dry grains traditionally but basmati is my favourite.
>WASH THE RICE
>For every cup of rice pour 2 cups of water in your water cooker and boil it
>When the pan is medium hot add a bit of olive oil and 1 glove of minced garlic per person
>KEEP THE RICE CLOSE AT HAND
>Toss in the garlic and fry shortly, don't brown it
>toss in the rice and KEEP STIRRING and scraping the bottom of the pan
>Do this for 3-5 minutes at medium heat
>Add the water, don't be afraid because it's going to scream at ya
>Give it a quick stir and place the lid on sideways, it needs an opening
>If not boiling bring it up to the boil then lower the heat. Let it cook till the waters almost gone.
>Stir, turn off the heat and cover for 10 minutes
