Trade the cigs for more food. Get my hands on some brewing yeast if I can. If not, no big deal. Ferment the sugar in a bucket, make some sugar wash. It’ll probably taste rancid but after distilling it’ll lose most of the flavor anyways. Harvest some of the yeast to repitch next time - the goal is to breed a more alcohol tolerant strain. Distill the sugar wash in a simple homemade still to make more vodka. Trade the vodka for more food, or if I want to be more covert, trade my vodka ration and drink the homebrew.
