I watched a video from a tourist in Pakistan and he stumbled on a cafe that just served milk. Not milk tea or milk espresso, just warm milk. Guys of all ages were hanging out at like 10 PM drinking milk and chatting. Interesting cultural difference, probably a lot less violence without widespread alcohol.

Huh, ive never heard about this distinction about turmeric vs cumin between meat and veggie dishes.

In the west the most common form of turmeric is preground in jars/bags, which is near flavorless. I assume you must use fresh roots to be getting enough flavor to season a dish.
